Product Manager 

We are seeking an experienced product professional (with no direct report) that will serve as a product owner for our proprietary EMR/PM software. As a product owner, you will play a critical role in discovering and delivering new capabilities as well as improving existing customer experiences through product evaluation, product selection, product implementation/integration, product enhancements and support of existing products for all aspects of our PM/EMR software. You must be passionate about implementing/building great products, solving customers, and business problems. You should have a strong track record of leading and developing products, adapting to a fluid context and using data to drive decision-making.

It is important that you understand how product enhancements change customer behavior and the trends that are emerging in the market. You will be accountable for socializing the product vision at all levels of the organization, assessing opportunities, and collaborating with development/integration/implementation teams. You will partner closely with business partners and stakeholders to ensure solutions are fully leveraged by the business.

This essential role will provide recommendations to key stakeholders to evolve the product and drive prioritization for enhanced offerings. They will work with a cross functional team to drive a cohesive go-to-market strategy delivering solutions that create unique value for internal and external stakeholders. The role requires thought leadership and the ability to drive initiatives to execution. This role is a strategy/execution role within the IT organization.

Must be able to move between defining strategy, setting a plan and executing a plan seamlessly. Working across a matrixed organization and leveraging lessons learned from other organizations will be critical to success.

Responsibilities

  • Discover known and unmet customer needs and possible feature/functionality concepts that meet those needs; gathering input from a variety of internal and external sources to define product concepts (analyzing competitors and market conditions to evaluate and articulate application of design and technology to the unmet customer need)
  • Develop business case(s), including financial impact and benefits statements, to support feature/functionality concepts and sell the concepts to internal audiences through persuasive oral and written presentations
  • Develop solution expertise with deep knowledge of the product ecosystem and competitive landscape
  • Define the product strategy and roadmap based on industry / customer needs
  • Responsible for prioritizing and grooming the product backlog (1-2 scrum teams) with the support of the product Director in order to ensure proper feature roadmap alignment.
  • Integrating the business strategy and knowledge of software capabilities (current and future) into vision and direction for all channel-related products
  • Serve as the product subject matter expert. Responsibilities include representing the solution within ECP for both Optometry and Ophthalmology practices
  • Serve as liaison with technology teams; activities include development of the business case to articulate ROI / business value, defining business requirements, driving enhancement prioritization and addressing product issues as they arise
  • Lead all design/development aspects for PM/EMR from product perspective, to include project execution, resource deployment, and overall leadership and coordination efforts
  • Collaborate with leadership to prepare overall project schedule, milestones, tasks, and estimates
  • Participate in technology/solution decisions with architecture and product teams for projects, to include ensuring that technical design, unit testing, deployment, and implementation requirements are properly documented
  • Anticipate upstream and downstream impacts of a change in feature or new enhancement; proactively identify problems that arise during product implementation lifecycle, outline options, recommend solutions, and escalate as needed
  • Analyze the market and engage with business units to identify opportunities to evolve the product offering support of business growth and retention goals

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a product management role in a complex business environment, including extensive experience with go to market strategy development; experience as a team lead desired
  • Bachelor's degree in technology, marketing, finance, management or similar field required
  • Experience in the technology and/or data industries or working with technology and/or data-related products and services preferred
  • Ability to make fact-based recommendations and decisions that align with what is needed to meet the needs of the organization
  • Ability to influence prioritization of solutions / enhancements across a matrix organization
  • Manage and implement solutions / enhancements effectively
  • Strong capability to define and simply communicate the value proposition of the product for markets and segments
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with sensitivity to diversity of audiences including internal and external groups and at various levels within an organization
  • Ability to synthesize and translate details of solution delivery for various internal stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships within a cross functional team
  • Ability to adjust to new, changing or ambiguous situations (e.g., different management styles, new methods, systems and procedures) and changing priorities within the business and the marketplace
